Dance in Four with Inner Duo
Inner Duo is an ensemble founded in 2020 by Helena Sousa (accordion) and Alejandra Rony (double bass). Specializing in performance, their work has primarily focused on classical repertoire while also exploring tango and world music traditions.
Inner Duo has performed at various venues and festivals, including the Spiegelzaal at the Concertgebouw (Het Zondagmorgen, 2022), Muze van Zuid Festival (2022), Dutch International Tango Week (2023), North Sea Round Town (2023), Rietveld Theater Delft (2024), Hillegonda CrossOver Festival (2024) or In Your Face Exhibition (2025).
With each festival, they have explored different musical styles and programs. This ongoing artistic search has led them to create a new independent project: Dance in Four with Inner Duo.
In music, each note naturally leads to the next, forming phrases that unfold over time and create a coherent musical narrative. In dance, this translates into movement: the body responds to rhythm, pulse, and accents, allowing the music to guide motion.
This idea lies at the core of the program. Taking Astor Piazzolla as a central point of departure, the repertoire expands into a carefully selected program deeply connected to Spanish and Argentine popular music, brought into the realm of classical performance with great sensitivity, bridging two richly diverse musical worlds. Alongside Piazzolla, the program features composers such as Enrique Granados, Alberto Ginastera, Francisco Escudero, Manuel de Falla, Émile Waldteufel, and Mariano Mores.
